Joan Cusack on Her Iconic Role as Frank Gallagher's Second Wife

In the early seasons of Showtime's hit series, Shameless, Sheila Gallagher is a reclusive agoraphobic who is rarely seen outside her home. As the series progresses, however, Sheila undergoes a significant transformation, emerging from her shell to become a vibrant and outspoken member of the Gallagher family.

Joan Cusack, who portrays Sheila, says she was drawn to the character's complexity and her ability to grow and change over time. "Sheila is a survivor," Cusack says. "She's been through a lot in her life, but she never gives up. I love that about her."

In the upcoming season of Shameless, Sheila will continue to face new challenges, including the return of her ex-husband, Frank. But Cusack says fans can expect to see Sheila come out stronger than ever before.

"Sheila is a fighter," Cusack says. "She's not going to let anyone tell her what to do or how to live her life. I think that's an important message for all of us, especially women."
