Bill Manning to Step Down as President of Toronto FC and Argonauts

After Nearly 9 Years at the Helm

Mutual Agreement to Part Ways

Toronto FC and president Bill Manning have mutually agreed to part ways, the club announced Tuesday. Manning, who also served as president of the Toronto Argonauts, has been with the organization for nearly nine years. The decision to part ways was made after a thorough review of the club's operations and a mutual understanding that a change in leadership was necessary. "Bill has been a dedicated and passionate leader for both Toronto FC and the Argonauts," said Larry Tanenbaum, chairman of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. "We want to thank him for his contributions to our clubs and wish him all the best in his future endeavors." Manning, 58, joined Toronto FC in 2015 as president and general manager. Under his leadership, the club captured the MLS Cup in 2017 and won the Canadian Championship in 2016 and 2017. In 2019, Manning was also named president of the Argonauts. The team reached the Grey Cup final in 2022, but ultimately fell short of a championship victory. "I am grateful for the opportunity to have led Toronto FC and the Argonauts for the past nine years," said Manning. "I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I wish both clubs all the best in the future." The search for a new president for Toronto FC and the Argonauts will begin immediately.
