Voyager: Exploring Beyond
The Mission
The twin Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft have embarked on an extraordinary journey, venturing into uncharted territories of space. Launched in 1977, these spacecraft have been exploring the outer reaches of our solar system for over 40 years.Voyager 2
Launched on August 20, 1977, Voyager 2 commenced its mission from Cape Canaveral, Florida, aboard a Titan-Centaur rocket. It has since traveled billions of miles, becoming the first spacecraft to successfully fly by Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.Voyager 1
On September 5, Voyager 1 also launched from Cape Canaveral, using a Titan rocket. It has ventured further into interstellar space than any other man-made object, reaching the heliopause, the boundary between the solar wind and the interstellar medium. To experience the interactive journey of Voyager, zoom in and spin the spacecraft here.
